Hey guys how goes it?

Iv been ok aye about to finish Tafe Cert 2/3 IT hopefully i pass

Recently got my P's so iv been jetting around checking out stuff going to Tafe/Goju/Girl Friends/Movies, but yet to the beach been a bit cold *SADFACE*

Gradings.

Iv just got my 9th kyu Red belt in Goju Ryu Karate so I'm pretty pumped aye slowly climbing the latter up and up

If you're not sure what Goju Ryu is, its Marshal Arts, style called Goju Ryu Karate Do, from W.G.K.A which is world renown.

Ranks are:
White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Brown, Brown-2nd Kyu(1 black band on you're belt), Brown-1st Kyu(2 black bands on you're belt) then black belt.

The Kyu Belt System
Martial arts students study under the “Kyu” belt system which is part of the Chinese Goju System. Students must progress through ten degrees of Kyu before they may be awarded a black belt. Students begin at 10th Kyu. Beginning students wear a white belt in the beginning. The final level is 1st Kyu which is indicated by a brown belt with two black stripes.

Sho Dan or 1st Dan

Sempai Upon receiving their black belt a karate student will be awarded this title, and is a assistant teacher.

Ni Dan or 2nd Dan

San Dan or 3rd Dan - The third degree of black belt, under the traditional Japanese style, is called “Sensei”.

Yon Dan or 4th Dan - title of Renshi may be awarded.

The master levels of black belt under the traditional Japanese style are the fourth and the fifth degrees. These are called “Renshi”. These belts are red and white. Masters may be identified according to their degree of study by the way they wear their belt.

Fourth degree masters wear their belt with the red facing down and the fifth degree masters wear their belt with the red facing up

Go Dan or 5th Dan - title of Renshi may be awarded.

Roku Dan or 6th Dan - title of Renshi may be awarded.

Sixth degree black belts wear black belts which have a red line that goes directly down the middle. “Kyoshi” levels - which are seventh and eighth degree black belts - have a red belt with a thin black line along the outer edges. Kyoshi means “ professor ” in Japanese.

Schichi Dan or 7th Dan - title of Kyoshi may be awarded.

Hachi Dan or 8th Dan - title of Kyoshi may be awarded.

Ku Dan or 9th Dan - title of Hanshi may be awarded.

The ninth and tenth degree black belts are the highest under this system. These belts are red in color and become solid red when a master has reached the tenth degree. These degrees are reserved for founders of the system. The tenth degree is called “Grandmaster”, “Hanshi”, or “Shidoshi”.

Ju Dan or 10th Dan - title of Hanshi may be awarded.

RENSHI : "A person who has mastered oneself".
This person is considered an expert instructor. Renshi are no longer one of the many and is usually given at Yo Dan (4th Dan) or Go Dan (5th Dan). It is not unusual for a Renshi to be over 50 years old before this title is ever conferred upon them.

KYOSHI : "Knowledgeable person".
Usually this title is conferred at Roku Dan (6th Dan) or Shichi Dan (7th Dan). It is not unusual for a Kyoshi to be over 60 years old before this title is ever conferred upon them.

HANSHI : "Master".
A title given to the oldest and most senior black belt, usually the head of an individual karate organization, someone who has studied the art of karate for most of their lifetime. This rank signifies their true understanding of the art. It is not uncommon for a Hanshi to be well over 70 or 80 years of age before this title is ever conferred upon them.

Pretty insane huh? some of the Dan names may be wrong correct me if I'm wrong please.

I think iv got a long way to go lol. I hope ill get as high as i can go i just can't wait till i can get my own rank, i recon it would be awesome. Just a little information on what I'm currently doing hope you understand better now.
